Statistics: A tool in improving the quality of life

This a very challenging course because students are not only made to master on how to find the mean, median and mode and other statistical measures; however, we are given an opportunity to apply these ideas in real life. The different methods and approaches particularly its objectives are truly linking the bridge between the role and importance of the scientific value of statistics as a tool in improving the quality of life. Likewise, this course gives me the true unromantic reality of praxis but also gives me/student the skills and confidence to take on the challenge as a graduate student.

STATISTICS: THE PATH FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

In real life, we want everything to be in perfect positive; however, there are really times that the relationship is negligible. But we have to bear in mind that we are all related, and there is no zero relationship between man and the Mother earth.
Statistics is not so much on how we solve, interpret and give conclusion on the given data, but so much more on the resolution and realizations on the objectives. As the course stated that it is designed to give students a comprehensive view of the basic concepts, principles and application of statistics in Education; facilitates students understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics, hypothesis testing and its application in the conduct of actual research; and, integrates application of computer operations to simplify the computation process as well as employment of technology innovations, which are really realize every meeting particularly during discussions.
In addition, the course specifies objectives which are really sustainable, manageable, realistic, and attainable in allotted time. However, it is still in the students’ response on how he/she will absorb and articulate deeper understanding on the given materials and references being used.
I deemed, on the other hand, that the course encourage the learners to be globally competitive to the call of time with a deep sense of concern and responsibility by inculcating to the mind of the learners that Statistics is a platform in education for sustainable development. This is such a great idea of showing love, respect and care for our Mother Earth.
Then again, the course ignites the passion of the students as  it integrates technology and nature in learning by sharing one’s sentiments and concerns to other bloggers and viewers. It is empowering indeed for it opens one’s eye to look back and to look forward by living responsibly at the present. It is a great challenge for me to walk my talk. Likewise, I am grateful to God for the gift of life and for the gift of creation.
To be honest, numbers and figures give me lots of headache and apprehensions.  I  love  the idea and the ways  on how the subject was being taught, no doubt on the process I began to love what I am doing specially the blog  and the online exam. It is somewhat fun, informative and recreational though stressful. It becomes one of the things that I looked forward every Saturday.
Finally, the course in relation to environment helps me realize that we are indeed free and everything we chose has consequences. Statistics deals always with numbers and numbers are either positive or negative. Certainty our choice is either positive and negative and constantly illustrated in every beat of our heart (conscience). Looking at the exemplified diagram in the internet, books, news regarding our Mother Earth we have to pause and reflect:  What did I do or share to my Mother earth? Am I a nature lover or a nature destroyer?

Journal Articles; Reports - Evaluative
In Canada education for sustainable development is not flourishing. This may seem curious as The Decade of Education For Sustainable Development is now well underway. But this isn't a bad news story. There are interesting dynamics at play and many great initiatives are emerging. This assessment is a story too. There are many ways of interpreting events and the analysis presented here is one; there will be others. In telling this story, especially for a brief article, I've made no attempt to provide a comprehensive survey of Canadian activities. Rather, I have taken a closer look at some key events and trends and discussed ways that they might be understood.

Amazing!

How many meetings we've been through? How many assignments were given to us? How many problems we've solved? Lots, varied...but through these "heavy" but "educational, entertaining and innovative tasks", I reflected and I found out that the course emphasizes more on an understanding statistics rather than on the development of computation statistics.

STATISTICS

Statistics is not just a subject taken this term and be forgotten but a life itself.
